Amiens Cathedral - MARIUS BAUER
Medium: etching
MARIUS BAUER
Dutch, (1867-1932)
Etching, 1890, van Wisselingh 211, edition 100. 17 1/4 x 14 1/2 in. Signed in the plate. Initialed in pencil and also numbered. This is a superb, delicate impression of this major work by the artist. The paper is a cream wove with full margins. The condition is very good; there's a rubbed spot in the upper right margin and three subtle printing(?) creases in the extreme upper right corner of the image. They are barely discernible. Bauer was a prolific artist and he's best known for his oriental work. He spent time in India, Indonesia Turkey and Morocco, among other locations. He won a number of awards throughout his career.
