Etching and aquatint printed in colors, undated , edition unknown. 13 3/8 x 8 3/8 in. Signed in pencil and with an inscription "c.73." This is a fine impression of this rare work. The margins are full. The condition is very good apart from a faint mat line. (The upper left and right sides of the platemark are professionally reinforced.). Preissig studied at the Prague School of Arts and Crafts and later worked with Mucha and Kupka in Paris. He moved to the United States in 1910 where he taught at Columbia with Arthur Wesley Dow. He also taught at the Wentworth Institute in Boston. When he was back in Prague, Preissig supported the Czech resistance and was arrested in 1940 for doing graphic design work for a magazine that had been outlawed by the Germans. He died in Dachau in 1944.      $1,600
