The condition is very good apart from a very faint suggestion of toning within a previous mat opening. Ex-collection: Paul J. Sachs (Lugt 2113). Israels was a leading figure of the Hague School.

Linocut, 1919, Buyck 204f, edition unknown but probably 50 or fewer. 23 1/2 x 12 3/8 in. Bearing an ink signature and dated lower left "5/9/19." This large and remarkable linocut was published in the portfolio "Six Linos" (1919). Jespers produced these works early in his career and they are quite rare. A fine impression with full margins. Mounted to a support sheet. Printed on thin wove paper. Minor tears with just one touching the image at top. Jespers has been the subject of several retrospectives including a 1989 show at the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Antwerp. This print is beautifully framed.

The condition is excellent. Jespers is one of the preeminent Belgian avant garde, modernist printmakers of the 1920s-1930s. He was good friends with the poet Paul van Ostaijen and contributed to the publications Ca Ira, Le Centaure and Sélection, among others. His produced several outstanding clown images during this period and collectively they represent a dynamic chapter in the development of modern Belgian printmaking.

The margins are full. Jespers liked to print on a fine cream colored wove paper. The artist actively exhibited his prints throughout his life and most of them are from the 1920s to mid 1930s. He did a small group of lithographs and woodcuts as well.

The paper is a sturdy white laid bearing a partial illegible watermark. The margins are full with a deckle edge on all sides. The condition is excellent. Jongkind studied in the Hague and spent much of his time in Paris where he was a student of Eugène Isabey. He was friendly with Sisley, Boudin and also Monet and he quickly began to excel as a painter in the impressionist style. His etchings are quite painterly and early impressions such as this one convey his best achievements as a fine and underrated etcher.

This is a fine impression printed with plate tone. The margins are full and the condition is fine other than for a tiny paper imperfection or flaw above the three men standing at the left. This impression bears the watermark of the Société des Aquafortises and was published by Cadart and Luquet and printed by Delâtre. This print appeared in January 1866; the fifth selection for the fourth year (See Bailly-Herzberg, 1972, vol.I, pg 182.) Ex-collection: Henri M. Petiet, with his ink stamp verso.

So many of Langaskens prints convey a sense of spirituality and faith in a higher power. Images of work, cathedrals and Christ are often part of his imagery. He was a masterful etcher and often worked on a large scale.

The condition is very good apart from minor toning on the verso and a few spots of ink here and there, not affecting the front of the sheet. The margins are wide and possibly full. This large, dramatic work shows Langaskens at his best; a memorable composition, technical finesse and subtle use of color. There was an important 2003 exhibition and catalogue on the artist by Jan Dewilde, and others, and much of the work was from the Flanders Fields Museum in Belgium and other Belgian collections. No proper catalogue on the prints currently exists but most are listed in this publication. (ISBN 90-5349-480-4)

This is a fine impression of this very rare work; a stellar example of Dutch art and design from "De Nieuwe Kunst" era. In very good condition apart from three small tears just to the image in the upper right corner. The colors are fresh. A complete example of this famous art nouveau calendar is located in the Gemeentemuseum, The Hague. This important calendar is illustrated and discussed in Holland on Paper in the Age of Art Nouveau (2014) by Cliff Ackley. Ex-collection: Hendrik Petrus Berlage (1856-1934), the celebrated architect and designer.

It's illustrated and discussed at length in Van Gogh to Mondrian; Dutch Works on Paper (2000)

The sheet has been archivally mounted to a heavier support sheet and there's an earlier (archival?) hinge across the top edge of the sheet. The margins are wide and probably full. Louise Marie "Lou" Loeber was an outstanding Dutch modernist graphic artist and painter. She was married to the artist Dirk Koning. Her work shows the influence of Mondriaan and the other De Stijl artists. She was greatly influenced by Kandinsky as well. Her prints are not so common.

Signed and dated in the lower right with the printed signature, "KAREL MAES, 12/1924" and numbered in the lower left. This is a superb impression of this rare and exemplary work. The margins are full and the condition is very good. (There's light foxing in the upper left part of the sheet, slightly showing in the image.) Maes is one of the preeminent Belgian modernists and was closely associated with Jozef Peeters, Pierre-Louis Flouquet, Rene Magritte and Victor Servranckx, among others. This work is from his best period and his paintings of this era also focus on geometric abstraction. Most of his linoleum cuts were published in journals in the 1920s in black and white only. From 1922 onward, Maes began to design furniture, carpets, and posters.

This is a fine impression in excellent condition. The margins are full. This work was issued as a separate print and was never found in any book editions like so many of the artist's prints. Masereel is probably the best known Belgian expressionist printmaker and he was quite prolific. The signed prints, however, are increasingly hard to find since they were done in very small editions. This is a very good example of his work from the 1950s.
